Audi wins ‘first’ Le Mans race

AUDI MAY NOT have secured pole position for this weekend’s Le Mans 24-Hours, but it’s already won its own race, before the world’s most gruelling and famous race, writes Jim McGill at Le Mans.

Less than 24-hours after Frenchman Loic Duval’s No1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro was destroyed in a horrific 170mph crash at the Porsche Curves, Audi crew and technicians had completely rebuilt the car — in the confines of the tight, restricted Le Mans pitlane garage — in time for starting the penultimate qualifying session at 7pm (local) on Thursday evening.
