MacKay and MacLennan set to re-new close Formula Ford rivalry

Scottish Championship Car Racing returns to Knockhill this weekend (Sunday 19th July), and following an action-packed meeting last time out, motorsport fans can expect more of the same as Scotland’s top racing drivers compete on track for 2015 SMRC silverware.

In the Scottish Formula Ford Championship, Tore teenager Neil MacLennan finally saw a chink in the armour of Ecurie Ecosse young driver Adam MacKay, by beating the Championship leader to pole position during qualifying at the last round. However, normal service was resumed in the races, with MacKay securing his fourth and fifth wins of the season – to remain undefeated for the 2015 season, so far.

The smallest of margins between MacKay & MacLennan at the finishing line!

Despite, MacKay’s continuing dominance of the class, MacLennan is well and truly on the march; as he closed the race winning gap to MacKay to just 0.135 and 0.142 seconds in each of the two races. Indeed, the former Karting ace was literally glued to MacKay’s gearbox for the entire duration of both races. Despite the pressure from MacLennan, MacKay drove faultlessly to open up a 30 point gap at the top of the Championship standings.

Jordan Gronkowski (Banff ) continues to make progress with his new charge for the season; closing the gap to the leading duo to 3 seconds on his way to a double third placed podium last time out. He’ll be keen to close the gap even further this weekend, and potentially split the MacKay/MacLennan front running combination.

“I’ve got to be happy with the my results and lap times so far this season. Now I just need to find a way past Adam at the front – that’s my goal,” said MacLennan post-race at the last meeting.
