Formula Ford heaven at Knockhill as BRSCC competitors join the fray

Scottish Championship Car Racing returns to Knockhill this weekend (Sunday 13th September); with single-seat Formula Ford Racing set to take centre-stage; with up to 26 of the UK’s top racing talent aiming to claim a trio of FF race wins; alongside the coveted David Leslie Trophy for the winner of the final race of the weekend.

Eleven BRSCC National Formula Ford racers will swell the ranks of the Scottish Formula Ford contingent this weekend, as the nationally orchestrated Championship makes its one and only visit to Scotland this year. It will be the biggest Formula Ford grid we have seen at Knockhill for a number of years, and promises some spectacular action with some of the National competitors already up-to-speed with the track following guest-entries at the August round.

Indeed, Canadian professional racing driver, Patrick Dussault would have been extremely pleased with his racing debut at Knockhill, after piloting his Cliff Dempsey racing machine to a 3rd place podium in only his first ever race meeting at the Scottish track. This time however, Dussault will be joined by racing brothers David and Tom McArthur, Irish Formula Ford racer Jonny McMullan and a host of others. That said, the leading trio of Scots racers – Adam MacKay (Championship leader), Neil MacLennan and Jordan Gronkowski – will hoping to make the most of home-advantage on a track they know so well. And for Gronkowski, he’ll be hoping to emulate his 2013 David Leslie Trophy success after losing out in 2014 to MacKay’s Ecurie Ecosse stable-mate Ciaran Haggerty.

With a further 14 races scheduled to take place on the day, as well as a host of practice and qualification sessions; Knockhill Racing Circuit will play host to a whopping 9 hours of thrilling entertainment featuring eight different Championships and upwards of 132 racers set to take on the unique twists and dips of Knockhill this weekend.

Action will come from the following classes:

– Scottish Classic Championship
– Scottish FF with BRSCC Avon Tyres FF 1600 Championship
– Scottish Fiesta Championship
– Scottish Legends Championship
– Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup
– Scottish BMW Compact Cup
– Scottish Saloons and Sports Car Championship

Action on the day will commence at approximately 8.30am as a series of 10-minute qualification sessions take place; before the first racing action of the day starts at 10.40am, through to 17.30pm.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online via the Knockhill website (subject to pre-booking discounts). Additionally, holders of a Knockhill 4-Wheeled and Gold Season pass will receive FREE entry to the event.
