Super Lap Scotland | 2016 Driver Previews

11061959_1042107375814343_1610543745809175147_nIt didn’t take Martyn Henry long to establish himself as a Super Lap Scotland front runner as he stood on the Class C  podium in his very first event. He went on to show consistency across 2015 when he returned to the podium on 3 more occasions, including a victory at round 5!

Martyn has a busy year of competition ahead of him and he is aiming to better his achievements from last season. Here’s what Martyn had to say about his experience within SLS as well as his outlook on 2016;

Martyn said; “I loved my first season in SLS! The fact it all boils down to one lap in the Super Lap Final makes it very interesting. Giving it everything up the Start/Finish straight towards Duffus Dip and not really knowing what’s going to happen when you make that first turn! Did I do enough to warm the brakes and tyres, is always going through my mind when attacking that single lap with all I have!

I enjoyed a number of high points in 2015. The first would have to be my podium finish at my first ever SLS event, which was made even more special as it was my first time around Knockhill (apart from when I sat my ARDS test!). The second was at round 5 when I won Class C overall by fractions of a second. I couldn’t believe it!! I had to look at the time sheets a good few times, just to make sure!!

I am in the middle of making a few changes to the car for this year. I’m adding a little more power with some cams and a standalone ecu, which are the main developments. I have few other bits and pieces that are on the cards but they’re not confirmed yet so need to see how it goes.

This year’s plans are to compete in the Club Fwd Class in the UK Time Attack Championship, as I have some unfinished business after losing out on 1st place by 0.1 of a second.  I will also be doing Super Lap Scotland as well, to try and better my 3rd place in Class C and improve my lap times.  I might not manage the full SLS season but I’ll hopefully do enough to contend for the championship top spots!”
