Tommy Hill dominates BSB Race One

Swan Yamaha rider, Tommy Hill made his pole position count in the opening MCE British Superbike race at Knockhill today. The Lingfield racer lead the race from start to finish despite an early challenge from Samsung Crescent Suzuki rider John Hopkins. Hopkins steered his Suzuki GSX-R1000 into second place on the podium and closed the gap to championship leader Shakey to 11 points.

Tommy’s Scottish following will be over the moon with their man’s form and it’ll take a mighty effort from everyone else to stop him in the next race. Hill’s victory elevates him to third position in the championship and with a front row start for the next race, Hill could reel Byrne in even further before the end of the day.

Byrne who put in the quickest lap of the morning warm up climbed through the field to snatch 3rd place and valuable championship points. Colchester Kawasaki man, Gary Mason had a solid race and brought his Kawasaki ZX-10R home in 4th place.

In the EVO class, Glen Richards confirmed his championship credentials by taking victory and local rider Dennis Hobbs completed half the race distance and will be happy to get some competitive laps under his belt.

The next Superbike race is scheduled for 4.20pm and with the form of Hill, Hopkins and Byrne, predicting a winner is almost impossible.
