The Fueltopia Barrel Sprint series rolls back into Scotland on Saturday 25th July, as part of our SLS/British Sprint and NSSCC event; and this is your opportunity to be part of it and compete, head-to-head, in the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint for just £35.
Barrel Sprint is an affordable motorsport that is a cross between drag racing, gymkhana and drifting. It’s an exciting activity which focuses on driver skill and technique rather than overall speed. It’s an open RWYB (run what you brung) entry and perfect for those who want to develop their existing skills or just want the experience of battle rounds while having fun.
As long as you have a valid European driving licence you can enter the FBS Series, just like a traditional RWYB. All times and entries will be submitted to the online leaderboard so drivers and fans can check performance and time stats.
Drivers have a dedicated lane and three barrels that they must navigate round (full 360 degrees) crossing the finish line in the quickest time. After qualifying the fastest 16 will then enter into a knockout style tournament, until the Knockhill Fueltopia Barrel Sprint round winner is found.
There are also a host of top prizes up for grabs, including cash, trophies and sponsor goodies. If you are good at donuts, you’ll love Barrel Sprint.
Barrel Sprint is open to any type of car (rear, front or four wheel drive); a quick run down of the format can be found below. You can pre-register your interest via the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint website or simply turn up on the day and submit your £35 entry fee – which includes a £10 event entry fee, so essentially £25 to compete!
– Registration will open at 9am and racing will commence at 10am (approx). You can register any time up to the 3pm deadline.
– You’ll need your own car, driver’s licence and a helmet
– A fee of £35 will be payable on the day
– Qualifying will run from 10am to 3pm
– Lunch will be between 1-1.30pm (subject to Event scheduling)
– Top16/Finals will begin at approx 3.30pm onwards

As well as the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint (Paddock2), we’ll have action on the main track (Reverse Circuit) in the shape of the Super Lap Scotland and British Sprint Championships. The Super Lap Scotland Championship is a time-trial competition featuring a variety of cars form simple road-going versions to super-tuned 1000hp brutes, all vying for class and overall SLS glory. Similarly, the British Sprint Championship is also a time-based competition, but features single seat race cars – similar to F1 cars – with awesome engines and oodles of power. Additionally, the Northern Saloons and Sports Car Championship will provide race action as up to 30 drivers take to the track in a variety of sports cars all in search of race wins.
The event will also continue into Sunday with the action switching to the International (clockwise) Circuit. SLS, British Sprint and Northern Saloons and Sports Car Racing will be supplemented by our first-ever Gymkhana Cup event – again taking place in Paddock2 and the Knockhill Hairpin Tri-Oval during the lunch break. Gymkhana racing is similar to Barrel Sprint, but includes more obstacles and manoeuvres that drivers have to complete; with the fastest time aggregated across both tracks winning the competition. We’ll also have up to 200 show cars on-site competing in our Show ‘n’ Shine competitions. The venue will be packed with a plethora of motorsport, machines and colour… make sure you are here.
