Hobbs on the podium in 2nd Ducati Tri-Options Race

Knockhill instructor and commentator helped himself to a second podium at this weekend’s MCE British Superbike Championship event today (Sunday 5th July) in the second Ducati Tri-Options Cup. Hobbs battled alongside fellow Scottish based rider Greg Gilfillan at the front of the pack and subsequently took the lead on the final lap of the race. However, Hobbs couldn’t hold on for the win as Rob Guiver slipped passed at the Hairpin. Hobbs will be content with adding further Championship points in his attempt to retain his Ducati Tri-Options Cup title he won last year.

“The race was a lot better than yesterday; I was happy just to sit and see what Leon and Rob were doing. I was patient and then made my move on the last lap at Clark’s as Rob’s line wasn’t as tight as mine. I knew he was coming and he just managed to out-drag me to the finishing line! Delighted with the weekend and now I’m in holiday mood,” said Hobbs.

Dennis, a good pal with Marty Nutt, who emotionally announced his retirement from competitive racing yesterday on BSB Radio; said this about his buddy’s decision:

“Marty and his Dad have been a huge influence in the paddock and the decision is the right one for Marty and his family. I doubt this will be the last time we’ll see him in the paddock, just not in a racing sense.”
