Organisers of the Border Access Knockhill Rally Stages on Sunday 1st March have a welcome headache as 79 entries have been received for their event which has a 75 limit, with more crews still wanting to enter! The Border Ecosse Car Club have run the event for 15 years and numbers have steadily grown from the 40s and 50s with the previous record of 67 in 2024, but this year has seen a jump with more to come.
Stuart Gray, Knockhill Director of Events said, "We are thrilled that the event has leaped in popularity amongst the rally scene. We hosted the McRae Rally Challenge last September which was one of the highest profile events we have ever hosted and there is no doubt that crews are wanting to drive in the wheels tracks of the legends that were at Knockhill. The quality matches the quantity too, making it a truly fantastic way to kick off our 2026 season".
"Rallying at Knockhill is so inclusive as the paddocks are open for all to mingle and meet the crews, and fans can see up to 90% of the action from several key vantage points. Adding to the spectacle will be the attendance by Scottish rallying royalty Jimmy McRae as he will be awarding the winning crew and specially commissioned trophy named after himself".
One of the leading lights of the Scottish Rally scene for more than a decade is Alloa based John Marshall, assisted in the co-drivers seat by Craig Wallace, in his stunning, newly acquired, classic BMW M3. The crew had a tremendous debut outing in the car at the McRae Rally Challenge, finishing second in class to Welsh rally legend Gwyndaf Evans in a Mk 2 Escort.
The event starts at 8.15am on Sunday 1
