Andy Forrest sets sights on new PB this

3 Fri Jun 2022 by Knockhill

With the British Superbike testing now done and dusted, it’s time for another weekend of car action at Knockhill. With the Superbike riders hitting low 47-second lap times around Knockhill this week, it’s not often you can point out a car which would match those times around Knockhill – and a home-built car at that.

Well fans who are attending this weekend might just see Andy Forrest eclipse even those Superbike lap times following another winter upgrade programme on his ridiculously quick AFP Westfield V8.

Now Andy’s never one for predictions, and a lot of things can happen on the day, but let’s just say that if he doesn’t reach LOW/MID 46-second lap times… he’ll be disappointed. Mind blowing stuff and a sight we can’t wait to witness this weekend.

“I’ve been pottering away in the shed this winter adding some subtle upgrades to the car,” quipped Andy.

“The clutch was our weakest link last season and it dictated how much boost we could run on the car. This year, we’ve gone for a much larger clutch, although slightly heavier, it will allow us to wind up the boost to help deliver quicker lap times. We’ve done over 200 miles to bed the clutch in… let’s just say that was fun.

Andy will be out in Super Lap Scotland

“We’ve also gone a bit wider on the rear tyres, I had some old 12” wide rims from a few years ago and so we’ve made them fit the car. Other than that, a few suspension tweaks to the rear while we do some comparative testing… and we’re good to go – weather dependant this weekend’, concluded Andy.

Andy has already run those upgrades on track this year and staggering results. This machine is worth the entry fee to this weekend’s event on its own; one of these days the Westfield is going to light up on track and send Andy back to 1955 – Back to the Future style.

Andy will be out in Super Lap Scotland (ProX) class this weekend. We also have our biggest racing entry for a KMSC car race meeting with 50 Caterham Graduates and 8 VW Cup entries joining our regular ModSport and Scottish Legends competitors for two-days of full-on race action.

If you’d like to attend, tickets can be booked online via the Knockhill website, tickets will also be available on the day at the gate.
