For over 60 years, the British Touring Car Championship has been regarded as the best saloon car racing championships in the world. 2022 will be no different, however, it will also mark the dawn of the new hybrid era for the BTCC. Top professional race teams with some of the best racing drivers do battle at up to 140mph throughout a packed grid of Toyotas, Hondas, BMWs, Fords, Infinitis, SEATs and more.
The new engine regualtions are designed to spice up the overtaking even more, if that is possible, with what is already one of the most action-packed championships in the world. There are four Scots on the grid with Gordon "Flash" Shedden, Rory Butcher, Aiden Moffat and young Dexter Patterson, all battling the best of the best saloon car racers in the UK including multiple champions Ash Sutton, Colin Turkington and Jason Plato - in his final BTCC season.
This year we are delighted to welcome back the big screens, trade stands, hospitality options, camping and so much more, making it a real motorsport festival.
The Lokring UK Raceday, in association with Cataclean, has exhilarating racing action guaranteed! Practice, qualifying and a 15 race programme to entertain and enthral over the weekend of 30th & 31st July. The unique nature of the Knockhill track promotes the closest racing of the season with cars often airborne as they attack the famous Duffus Dip, Blackcircles Chicane and Clarks!
Top drivers such as Shedden, Turkington, Butcher, Sutton, Moffat and Ingram will do battle over three 24 lap races on the main event day, come and watch 72 laps of no holds barred Touring Car action! Elsewhere in the classes, there is plenty of local talent to support with a gaggle of Scots drivers on the Mini Challenge grid and Oliver Stewart plying his trade in the F4 Championship... amongst others.
Here’s how the weekend pans out - Action starts early on Saturday 30th July with warm up sessions for all classes before the fast and furious qualifying session, as the BTCC competitors chase the last 1/1000th of a second to snatch pole position from their rivals. Saturday continues with support races, but the undoubted highlight is watching a packed grid of BTCC cars scrabbling to find that gap in the traffic to set their ultimate lap in qualifying.
On Sunday 31st July (the main feature race day) it's another action-packed day for you as it features exhilarating hard-charging support class racing and three feature races for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. Come for the weekend or just come for the main event day, the choice is yours but what you are in for is the best of British motorsport showcasing their skills at Knockhill over the two days.
Disabled Parking: Please note that the limited spaces we have available at Knockhill for disabled parking have been fully allocated for the BTCC weekend. This means that any blue badge holders arriving on the day, will be directed to general parking areas around the site – this could include the Hairpin Hill, Chicane or Clarks Corner. Where possible, we will try and help facilitate disabled drop off, but as you can understand this is a very busy event and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
