Ray Dominates Donington: A Triple Treat

4 Wed Jun 2025 by Knockhill

Bradley Ray delivered a stunning performance at Donington Park a couple of weeks ago, securing a clean sweep of all three races in the second round of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship. The Raceways Yamaha rider showcased impeccable form, navigating the challenging Grand Prix circuit with precision and pace, firmly establishing himself as an early championship frontrunner.

Ray's dominant display began with a masterful victory in Saturday's opening race, fending off fierce challenges from reigning champion Kyle Ryde (OMG Yamaha) and Glenn Irwin (Hager PBM Ducati). The momentum continued into Sunday, where Ray once again held his nerve under intense pressure to claim both sprint races.

Race 2 saw Ray maintain his lead despite a brief overtake attempt from Glenn Irwin, who later ran wide, allowing Ray to pull away for his second win. In the final race of the weekend, Ray completed his hat-trick, battling closely with Irwin who pushed him to the limit in the closing laps. Scottish rider Rory Skinner (Cheshire Mouldings Ducati) also had a notable weekend, securing a well-deserved podium finish in Race 3 – his first since switching to Ducati this season.

This triple victory at Donington Park has propelled Bradley Ray to the top of the championship standings, and he currently sits 12 points clear of Glenn Irwin. Kyle Ryde is in third as the championship now heads to Snetterton on June 20-22, promising another thrilling instalment of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

Oban’s John McPhee was impressive at Donington Park too, with a superb performance that saw him battling towards the front. The MasterMac Honda rider scored two top tens and a 12th place, bumping him up the order. With local support at Knockhill, and despite his inexperience of riding at his home track after years away winning Grands Prix, 'The Wee McPhee' will no doubt be up at the sharp end again.

Another Scot, Lewis Rollo, is still out injured following his testing accident in Spain before the season. The SENCAT IN Competition by Swan Racing Aprilia rider suffered a back injury that doctors told him may take up to three months to heal. If the rider from Gifford near Haddington doesn’t make it into the saddle for Snetterton, he’s told us he will definitely be aiming for Knockhill – what better place than his home round to make a comeback?
