Safety - Safety is always the overriding consideration in motorsport, so expect a good deal of time to be spent covering this vital topic on the day. Make sure to watch our instructional film before completing your course so that is it fresh in your mind before you complete the course.
Written Test - You will need to sit a 30-minute written test in a classroom environment. This test will cover the relevant section of the Motorsport UK Yearbook: Section Q, Circuit Racing. It will also test your knowledge of the various flags used to communicate important safety information and instructions to competitors out on track. These flags are detailed here and your knowledge of them will need to be 100 per cent accurate to pass the course.
Track Test In addition to the written test you will head out on track with an ARDS examiner in a road car. The examiner will evaluate your ability to lap the circuit in a safe and controlled manner, using the appropriate racing line. Remember, this is not a test of your speed and skill; it is a test of your competency.
Debrief The final step is to debrief with your ARDS Examiner who will stamp and sign your application form if you pass the course successfully. Once stamped, you can then compete and return your form to Motorsport UK to receive your first competition licence.
Honda Civic Type R
Say hello to the most powerful, fastest accelerating, front-wheel-drive car we’ve ever had the pleasure of at Knockhill. The Type R responds instantly to the driver, no hesitation. Underneath the sculpted bonnet lies a four-cylinder VTEC TURBO engine. It’s no surprise to discover this gives the Type R the ability to sprint from 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds and achieve 169 mph top speed. Powering the Type R through the dramatic undulations of our famous racing circuit is exhilarating.

Thanks for booking the weather for last Tuesday :-) I must admit that on the way down it didn't look promising but it cleared up and we had an ace day. This was the third Niall day I’ve done at Knockhill and by far the best. The format I think is pretty close to being perfect, Niall,John and Dennis were really good, being friendly, approachable and helpful and were genuinely interested in helping everyone along. I think my riding improved a lot over the day and was helped a lot by Dennis who, when he saw me on track always noted what I was doing, even though he was with someone else, and came looking for me in the pits to give me some feedback to what he saw afterwards. All in all a brilliant day had by me, my brother and my mate Hope to see you again soon.

Can’t recommend this experience highly enough. Well organised and so much fun. Having been given as a gift I was a little nervous, however my guide/co driver Graham put me at ease from the start. They really do push you on to ensure you get the of the experience. Being a passenger in the car whilst they go round the track though is a different experience altogether!! Adrenaline fuelled and a a lesson in showing how it’s done. Little presentation and score cards read out with comments is a nice wee touch. I will definitely be back with the whole family.

To be honest for the price I can’t complain, I got bloody loads of track time. The staff are always bloody great when you go there and make the day for you. I love my trips Niall, john and Dennis were all pleasant.

First Time Race Goer - Had a blast!!
Attended the Superbike racing on Sunday. I have never been to a race circuit and did not know what to expect.
Pleasantly surprised by the facilities and the circuit itself. Food was very good, trade stands also great. The racing was thrilling.
I did learn somethings as a first timer. Make sure you wear sunscreen (you sit outside most of the day) and top it up through the day. If you want a comfortable seat bring one with you, lots of places to put your own chair some under cover, there is seating at the circuit but it is not comfortable for long periods. Don't forget to drink plenty of water, it is very easy to get caught up in the action and forget! This was a great experience for my first time attending a race circuit would definitely recommend.

My sons took part in this, normally teenagers who grunt as communication were suddenly animated, talking coherently, I do believe those were actual smiles on their faces. My thanks to all the instructors and staff on the teen drive experience, you gave my sons an excellent start to driving and above all they really enjoyed it, raved about it in fact and couldn't wait to tell their pals on TD2 they had driven on a racetrack and been in a race car. Only downside is they are now at me to buy them a car...hmmm. No really, big thanks to you all. you deserve it.
