The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship hit its halfway mark at Oulton Park this past weekend, serving up a typical dose of cut-and-thrust racing, strategic plays, and a memorable return to the top step of the podium. The Cheshire circuit delivered three intense encounters, shaping the championship picture as the series heads into its summer hiatus.
The opening race of the day saw Tom Ingram reassert his dominance. From pole position, the Hyundai driver controlled the race from start to finish, leading every single lap to secure a commanding victory in Round 13. Dan Cammish secured a strong second place, while Chris Smiley impressed by rounding out the podium.
Ash Sutton proved why he's a multiple champion in Race 2. Starting from fourth, Sutton made light work of his rivals, executing a decisive move on Tom Ingram at Island Hairpin early on. Ingram, on the harder tyre, couldn't hold off the charge, ultimately finishing fourth as Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton completed the podium in second and third respectively. Sutton's calculated tyre choice in Race 1 paid off handsomely, extending his lead in the Drivers' Championship.
The final race, run in challenging wet conditions, produced the feel-good story of the weekend as Gordon Shedden roared to a brilliant victory. It was the three-time champion's first BTCC win since 2022 and marked him as the tenth different race winner of the highly competitive 2025 season. Shedden, starting from pole, perfectly managed the slippery conditions, fending off fierce pressure, especially from Jake Hill. Ash Sutton and Daniel Rowbottom secured the remaining podium spots, with Ingram fighting his way back to fourth.
