The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship delivered a masterclass in door-to-door racing at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit this past weekend. With greasy track conditions and the tightest margins on the calendar, Round 2 proved that the 2026 title fight is wide open.

Race 1: Sutton’s Milestone

Starting from pole, Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK) put on a clinical performance to claim his 50th career BTCC victory. Despite immense pressure from Ricky Collard and unpredictable weather, Sutton held firm to lead from start to finish. Tom Ingram rounded out the podium in third, securing vital points for his championship defence.

Race 2: The Return of Taylor-Smith

The second race of the day provided one of the biggest stories of the season so far. In slippery conditions, Árón Taylor-Smith (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport) charged through the field from 13th on the grid. He navigated the chaos to take his first BTCC win in a decade, sparking emotional celebrations in the paddock. Ash Sutton and Ricky Collard followed him home to complete the podium.

Race 3: Ingram Finds the Top Step

Champion Tom Ingram (Team VERTU) finally shook off a run of bad luck to take a commanding win in the weekend's finale. Starting from fifth on the reverse grid, Ingram sliced through the leaders to take the top spot. Behind him, the battle for the remaining podium places was fierce, with Ash Sutton securing a massive second place to extend his championship lead, followed by a standout performance from Mikey Doble in third.

The Road to Knockhill

With three different winners across the weekend, the momentum is at an all-time high as the championship begins its journey north. Ash Sutton currently leads the standings, but with Ingram finding his winning form and the Independent drivers breathing down their necks, anything can happen.
