Ryde Ramps Up Title Defence

Reigning champion Kyle Ryde made a loud statement at the opening round of the 2026 British Superbike Championship by claiming all three race victories at Oulton Park. Trading paint with the series’ most experienced veterans, the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing rider showed immense composure to fight back from early challenges in the opening sprint and maintain his grip on the lead through the weekend’s longer features.

The podiums remained remarkably consistent throughout the event, with Leon Haslam and Bradley Ray joining Ryde in the top three for every single race. Haslam pushed Ryde to the limit in the final race of the weekend, trading the lead multiple times in a tactical masterclass, while Ray kept his McAMS Yamaha firmly in the hunt to complete the "Champions' Lockout."

Beyond the podium, Scott Redding enjoyed a resurgent start for the Hager PBM Racing Team by claiming two fourth-place finishes, while Perth’s own Rory Skinner put in a strong performance for Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha with a consistent run in the top eight. There was also plenty of intrigue surrounding the debut of the bimota machinery, with Max Cook leading laps in Race 2 and rookie Joe Talbot breaking into the top ten on his first outing.

With a maximum haul of 54 points, Ryde heads into the next round as the man to beat, leaving the rest of the field searching for an answer to his dominant early-season form.
