Super Lap Scotland is gearing up for a major change in 2026 as organisers announce a fresh twist to the final on each event day. After many seasons of running the one-lap “Hot Lap” format, the series is introducing a new timed session to determine the ultimate winners with all competitors on track together.
Under the updated format, competitors will no longer rely on a single flying lap to secure their final positions. Instead, all drivers will take part in a 15-minute final in which they can complete as many hot flying laps as they wish. Their fastest lap set within that session will count toward their final result.
Organisers say the change is designed to increase excitement, provide fairer opportunities in varying track conditions, and give drivers more flexibility to push their cars to the limit.
Fans can expect an even more intense and strategic finale as drivers balance outright speed with tyre management, traffic, and timing. The 2026 season is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic yet for Super Lap Scotland with six rounds, including two double headers, starting on April 18th & 19th.
