15 000 bike race fans to descend on Scotland's National Motorsport Centre
The premier national Superbike championship in the world, the Bennetts British Superbikes, is gearing up to return to Knockhill Racing Circuit on July 4th - 6th, as 15,000 bike fans will come to Fife from all over the UK and beyond to see some of the best motorcycle racers in the world chase for the BSB title.
Whilst all Scottish eyes will be on the three Scottish star riders in the top Superbikes class, Rory Skinner from Perth, Lewis Rollo from Haddington and John McPhee, from Connel Bridge, there are three other Scots who are also chasing local glory at their home event.
In the support championships, both Declan Connell (Dunfermline), Callum Bey (Huntley) are having strong seasons on their Hondas in the Pirelli National Superstock championship. Declan is currently lying 9th overall with a recently 6th place finish, and Callum is 14th. Meanwhile, young Oliver Barr from Newton Stewart is currently 16th in the Quattro Sport British Supersport Championship.
The Superbike teams and personnel will arrive in Scotland from Wednesday, 2nd July , meaning that the event has a huge economic impact on Fife and Scotland. Stuart Gray, the Knockhill Director of Events said, "It is great having the established Scottish stars in the Superbikes, but this year, there is young emerging local talent to keep an eye on too. We cannot wait for the show to return next week, especially with six Scots all vying for podium finishes across the weekend".
Tickets can be purchased via
www.knockhill.com/events or at the gate. Action will start at 8.45am on each of the three days of competition.
