Legendary Scottish bike racer honoured at Knockhill with the naming of Mackenzie Drive

Niall Mackenzie is one of the greatest motorcycle racers Scotland and the UK has ever seen with a fabulous 40 year career of successes including Grand Prix riding and three British Superbike championship titles. Niall is the President of the Knockhill Motor Sports Club, hosts his track days at Knockhill and is always first in line to help support the next generation of Scottish bike racing talent.

To mark his 40 year connection with Knockhill, the management team have named the main drive into Knockhill from the A823 “Mackenzie Drive” with an unveiling ceremony yesterday in the presence of Niall, his son Taylor, Circuit Owner Jillian Shedden and Director of Events Stuart Gray.

Niall said he was “Shocked, surprised, speechless, honoured and proud! The very existence of Knockhill paved the way for my fantastic life, never mind the incredible fun and memories over the past 40 years with you guys. The family is blown away and chuffed to bits with ‘Mackenzie Drive’ so this really is the icing on the cake”.

Every customer arriving at Knockhill, whether as a spectator, competitor, track day driver or rider or heading for some fun at the kart track will turn off the A823, travel up “Mackenzie Drive” before turning left towards the main gate of Knockhill, ensuring the Mackenzie name will for ever be at the forefront of visitors to the venue.
