Webber talks Formula Ford with DV

Nine-time Formula One Grand Prix winner and former World Endurance Champion Mark Webber was at Knockhill last week, so we grabbed the Australian racing legend for a quick chat.

The last time Webber was at Knockhill was back in 1996, when he piloted the factory-backed Duckhams Oil Van Diemen in the Slick 50 Formula Ford Championship – he finished 2nd in the series that year behind his Danish teammate Kristian Kolby and his overriding memory of his one and only visit to Knockhill… was that it was wet.

Mark Webber with the David Leslie Trophy

As we head towards our Scottish Motor Racing Club – David Leslie Trophy meeting this weekend; that will see the highly respected David Leslie Trophy up for grabs, Webber looks back on his time racing the Ford Kent powered machines back in Australia before he headed for motorsport stardom.

Tickets for the weekend’s event, which will be a day and a half meeting as we welcome up to 60 Superkarts back north for their first visit to Scotland in almost 10 years ago.

Who knows, perhaps Mark needs to scratch another itch… wouldn’t that be something!!
