Sharp denied pole in Bucharest

Aberdeen’s Ryan Sharp, driving his JetAlliance Aston Martin DBR9, was denied pole position for the sixth round of the FIA GT World Championship in Bucharest by the Corvette of Marcel Fassler and Jean-Denis Deletraz.

The Scot though, partnered by Austria’s former F1 racer Karl Wendlinger, outpaced the Vitaphone Maserati of third-placed Michael Bartels.

St Andrews racer Andrew Kirkaldy qualified his CR Scuderia Ferrari F430GT second in the GT2 class behind the AF Corse Ferrari of Gianmaria Bruni. Italian Fabio Babini was third fastest in the Broxburn-based Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari.
