Bogie bids for back-to-back wins

Scotland’s most talented young rally ace, 21-year-old David Bogie from Dumfries, bids for back-to-back victories in the Hankook Scottish Rally Championship when he tackles the Blue Riband event of the season in Dumfries.

Four weeks after winning the Jim Clark Rally on tarmac, Bogie tackles his home-based event, the RSAC Scottish Rally which gets underway tomorrow in Dumfries. And the youngster knows what a win would mean.

“The win on the Jim Clark was very important for our campaign, and the aim is to carry it through and take maximum points on the Scottish,” Bogie, who is number one seed for the event in his Mitsubishi Evo 9, said today.

“We’re three points behind in the title race and hopefully,we’ll emerge at the end of the event on Saturday with not only another win, but the outright championship lead. But we know it’s going to be tough.”

Bogie though knows he faces stiff competition  from championship leader Jock Armstrong, and the Castle Douglas driver is equally adamant he can win in his Subaru Impreza.

“We all need a win, so the pace will be fantastic,” he admitted. “This home event has always been good to me,  so bring it on I say”.

The RSAC Scottish Rally is the fifth round of the series and marks the start of the second half of the season. Such is the appeal of the 45-mile event that it has attracted a bumper entry of more than 130 cars.
