KNOCKHILL – SATURDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER
Anthony Reid, one of the UK’s most experienced and successful racing drivers of recent times, makes his racing return to Knockhill this Saturday, 26th September.
With Anthony’s racing CV covering every discipline of racing from Sports Cars to Touring Cars, GT racing at Le Mans to Classics at Goodwood, he has raced throughout the world. His commitments this year already take him to Argentina for their National Touring Car Championship and sensationally, he has been drafted into the Team RAC British Touring Car Team for the final three rounds of the British Championship.
In addition to his busy schedule Anthony has managed to slot in a guest drive in the Tynecastle Garage run Mini Cooper guest car on Saturday 26th September. On a recent visit to Knockhill, Anthony said “I am really looking forward to racing at Knockhill again. It’s my “local” circuit having been bought up at nearby Lorreto School, the same school that twice world Champion Jim Clark went to. The Mini will be a lot of fun and I hope to call on all my Touring Car laps at Knockhill and mix it with the regulars at the sharp end of the grid”.
In addition to Anthony racing the Mini, he will be demonstrating a BTCC Nissan Touring Car, a car similar to the one that he raced in 1997/8 and subsequently going on to win the Championship in 1999 in the hands of Laurent Aiello.
The action also includes Scottish Formula Fords with Rory Butcher fresh from winning the National Formula Ford title for his continuing duel with Scott Fraser and Craig Brunton. A special debut racer in this class is Graham Leslie, eldest son of the late David Leslie who was tragically killed in a plane crash in 2008. Graham will be racing his fathers Formula Ford in his memory with many of the Leslie family aiming to be present too. It is sure to be an emotional event for all concerned.
