Podium finish for Di Resta

Bathgate’s Paul Di Resta continued his fine end to the season when he finished second in the penultimate round of the German Touring Car Championship in Dijon in France.
The 23-year-old Scot, who won last month at Brands Hatch, finished just 0.834secs behind his Mercedes team-mate Gary Paffett. Canadian Bruno Spengler made it an all-Merc podium.
“It’s a great result for the team because it means Gary now goes into the final round at Hockenheim with a chance of winning the championship,” Di Resta, who acted as a protective rear-gunner for his English team-mate, said today.
“Last year I got all the support from the guys because I was the one pushing for the title, so it was nice to be able to pay Gary back. Now we just need to do it all again at Hockenheim.”
With championship leader Timo Scheider only managing sixth after his Audi suffered a puncture, Paffett heads into the season finale seven points behind the German. Di Resta is currently fourth in the championship, just two points behind Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom.
