Di Resta waits for the Force India call

Bathgate’s Paul Di Resta has returned to Scotland hoping his impressive Formula One test with Force India In Spain this week has convinced the Silverstone-based team to take him on full-time for the 2010 season.

The 23-year-old Scot, who flew back from the Jerez test today, is known to have impressed the team bosses by being second-quickest on the opening day of the test in his Mercedes-powered car.

“I’m certainly happy with what I achieved this week,” the talented youngster, who will attend tomorrow evening’s annual Scottish Motor Racing Club Awards ceremony in Edinburgh, admitted.

“My primary goal was to do the test and make sure I made an impression with the team bosses. I believe, with the times I set and the feedback I was able to give the team’s technicians, that’s exactly what I did.

“Of course my main objective remains to get into Formula One, and hopefully what I’ve done this week has accelerated and boosted my chances.”

The Scot, who has competed for Mercedes in the German Touring Car Championship for the past three years, is favourite to be appointed the reserve and test driver for Force India for next season.
