Son of Skid Markz – the mystery deepens!!!

The mystery driver, SKID MARKZ, paid a surprise visit to the start of the Jim Clark International Rally on Friday evening in Edinburgh.

Whilst thousands watched the action and the ceremonial start, SKID appeared with a reduced version of himself – presumably SKID Junior. They then wandered through the crowd, signing autographs and having their pictures taken.

The main draw for SKID must have been the showing of the Scottish Motor Racing Club’s guest Mini, sponsored by Tynecastle Garage, on the Knockhill Racing Circuit stand. This is the car that Skid will racing on Sunday 31st May at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre, and it certainly attracted his/her attention.  SKID Junior was getting up to all sorts of antics as well – obviously from the same planet as his/her parent, as numerous stand-holders who were at Fountain Park will testify!

Racing at Knockhill starts EARLY on Sunday – at 10:15. The meeting is jam-packed with 16 races including visiting rounds from south of the border by the Northern Sports & Saloon Car Championship.

The Feature Races will be the FFDR Mini Cooper Cup, with three races for mystery driver SKID: who is he/she? Could it be BTCC driver Gordon Shedden? Or is it ex-Formula Ford champion Joe Tanner? Perhaps it’s Renault Clio Cup Coupe des Dames-winner and TV commentator Sasha Pearl, or Young Driver of the Year Award-winning Rory Butcher. Then again, it could be newcomer Rory Bryant, or maybe it’s the long-awaited return of Ollie Mortimer. Time may tell, if the mystery is ever unravelled!
