Bogie back in business for Border’s

Defending champion David Bogie makes his first appearance in this year’s Hankook Scottish Rally Championship when he tackles tomorrow’s second round, the Jedburgh-based Border Counties Rally.

The 22-year-old from Dumfries will use the 45-mile event as an extensive test for his Mitsubishi Evo IX ahead of the opening round of the British Rally Championship next week.

“I’ve not driven the car competitively since RallyScotland last November, so it’ll be great to be in action again,” Bogie, whose dramatic crash on the final stage of the Intercontinental Rally Championship last year forced the event to be stopped early, said today.

“We’ve taken quite a while to rebuild the car after that big accident which caused a lot of damage to it. I tested the car last week in Wales and everything went well, so we should be ready for a good outing in the Borders.”

Bogie will face stiff competition from the Evo VI of  last year’s runner-up, Lockerbie’s Mike Faulkner, and the Subaru Impreza of Jock Armstrong. The Castle Douglas driver currently leads the championship after dominating the opening round in Inverness last month.
