Birnie and Robertson do the double!

Danderhall’s Michael Robertson rolled into Knockhill this weekend looking to win both races in each of the Premier and Superstock 600 classes as he did last time out.

The talented bike racer managed to take two victories from a possible four. But never bet on Bruce ‘The Barber’ Birnie storming back to form to snatch two impressive wins in the Premier class aboard his Frost GSXR1000 bike sponsored by Carnegie Fuels Ltd.

Both Robertson and Birnie diced with fellow competitors all afternoon which saw at least four riders competing for the lead in the opening Premier class race. It was Birnie who emerged triumphant after Robertson ran out of fuel towards the end of the final lap.

Birnie was to sample disappointment during the afternoon when he was forced to retire during the Superstock 600 race with gear selection issues whilst leading. A dejected Birnie headed towards the pit-lane with his head in his hands.

“I’m devastated about that race, l was comfortable and was looking forward to another incredible battle with Michael but that’s racing l suppose.”

Elsewhere there were victories for Jon Raeside and Jon Frost both of whom compete in the Cupar Motorcycles Formula 400 class. In the GP125 Class, young Stuart Wilson riding his Honda RS 125 claimed a double victory to keep his 2010 Championship bid on course.
