Sense Scotland kart Grand Prix a roaring success

Whilst Scottish star Dario Franchitti won his second Indy 500 race, Knockhill, the circuit where he learnt his race craft, played host to the first ever SENSE SCOTLAND Pedal Kart Grand Prix.

17 teams from all over Scotland raised over £20,000 as they peddled their way round the twists, turns and undulations of the famous track.  Speeds of up to 20mph were achieved on the downhill sections, the upper limit of what the karts were designed for!

Stuart Gray, Knockhill Events Director said, “It was amongst the more unusual bookings Knockhill has ever had, but ultimately one of the most fun and worthwhile for fund raising.  We do hope it’s an annual event and grows and grows for 2011”.

Leading the way home were:

1st – “Crombie Skids” from DSDA Crombie
2nd – “And in 1st Place” from Odfjell Drilling
3rd – “The Fat & The Furious” from Alexander Dennis

There was also an award for Best Team Kit which went to “Team Spirit” from Veolia Water.
