Sidecar action bodes well for World event

With a good lead in the SACU Scottish Championship the next two rounds took place at the Knockhill on Sunday. Team SLR, consisting of Scott and James, were keen to use all the lap time they could at the circuit to get the sidecar ready for their attack on the FIM World Sidecar Championship event being held there on 14-15 August 2010.

With a mainly dry day, Team SLR secured pole position for the two races.  As the units headed off the line Scott generated too much wheel spin and was slow away and into third place. As they put in faster lap times they closed the gap on the leaders, then passed on the inside into Scotsman corner and were away in the lead. They eventually won by just over eighteen seconds, further extending their lead in the Scottish Championship.

Scott and James made a better start in the second race and were in second place on the first lap. Scott was pushing hard and was lining up the leaders for an overtaking man- oeuvre  Unfortunately there was contact and as they hit, it was James’s hand that was between the units and he was off the sidecar and in some pain. The race was re-run but without Team SLR, as passenger James Neave was off to hospital.  His injuries turned out to be not too serious and he hopes to be back on the racetrack soon.

The team came away with many positives from the weekend.  Their new lines of strategy all seemed effective and they feel closer to success with their attack on the Sidecar GP at Knockhill on August 14th / 15th.
