Thirwall stars with stunning overtaking move

Kenny Thirwall pulled off one of the bravest and most spectacular moves ever scene at Duffus Dip to stamp his mark on the Scottish Formula Ford Championship today at Knockhill.

Having dominated the first meeting of the year, Craig Brunton continued his good form by securing pole position in the highly competitive Formula Ford Championships. For the first time, the top four contenders were out in their respective cars as Brunton was joined by Scott Frazer, Joe Tanner and round one runner up Kenny Thirwall.

It was Brunton that led the way until he was held up by a back marker whilst entering the chicane which allowed Thirwall to catch. Two laps later, Thirwall pulled off a stunning move round the outside of Brunton going down Duffus Dip, a move that only the bravest of drivers would contemplate. He went on to win, followed by Brunton and Scott Fraser.

The next round of the championship is tomorrow, Sunday 9th May, supporting the British GT Championships. Racing action starts at 8.30am with 14 races scheduled, and tickets are available at the gate.
