Fife Schoolchildren invited to get creative for The Open

As part of Celebrating Fife 2010, Fife Council and Knockhill Racing Circuit are asking Fife schoolchildren to design artwork for the sidecar which will feature at the FIM Sidecar World Championship British Grand Prix on Saturday 14, and Sunday, 15 August 2010.

The winning entry will be adapted to fit the sidecar and will be revealed at Fife Council’s Welcome to Fife Pavilion during the Open Golf Championship. The motorbike and sidecar belong to Derek Butcher, owner of Knockhill Racing Circuit, and a Celebrating Fife Local Hero.

All entries will receive a  two for one admission ticket  to the Sidecar World Championship  race day itself on Sunday, 15 August worth £15, just simply by entering. The winner will be invited to the Open by Fife Council to see their design unveiled and to Knockhill as guests for the event itself.

Your theme for the artwork could be Celebrating Fife, motor racing, your favourite place in Fife or absolutely anything at all. You don’t have to be Picasso or even Vettriano – you just need to be between five and 16, living in Fife, with a lively imagination!

The closing date for the competition is Thursday, 1 July and for details on how to enter visit either Celebrating Fife’s website www.fifedirect.org.uk/2010 .
