30th Anniversary JOCK TAYLOR SUPERPRIX

Organisers at Knockhill Racing Circuit and the KDMC are delighted to announce a new format for the Fife Council supported motorcycle event on August 14th / 15th featuring the 30th anniversary of Scottish racing legend, Jock Taylor, winning the side car World Championship in 1980.

This will be the final Jock Taylor sidecar races, so it is anticipated that the largest number of sidecars seen in recent years will turn out to celebrate this landmark anniversary of the late and great Jock Taylor. In addition, full Scottish Championship racing, feature display bikes, club stands and invited star guests will perform, including the ex world Stunt riding champion, Scotsman Kevin Carmichael.

This is due to the surprising and unforeseen announcement that the round of the FIM World Sidecar Championship at Knockhill is not now happening.  Event Director, Stuart Gray, said “I know hosting a Grand Prix would have had great kudos and prestige, however, what better way to fill the void than celebrate one of Scotland’s racing heroes, Jock Taylor. A massive seven races are on offer for sidecar teams, a prize fund of £2000 with prize money on every lap of 3 x 10 lap race format. And all for only £100 entry fee! Teams interested should contact the KDMC directly on 01592 650 871 or 07917 422 574.”

In addition to the side car and solo bike racing and Kevin Carmichael stunt riding, a number of other exciting elements are being worked on to make the 14th and 15th of August a real motorcycle racing festival. Details will be announced in due course as and when they are confirmed.
