Adventurous start for BSB stars at Knockhill

Some of the leading competitors in the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship and associated support championships took time out of their busy schedules to head for the golf course prior to this weekend’s sixth round at Knockhill in Scotland. But it wasn’t the normal 18 holes the riders tackled; instead it was a little less serious at Adventure Golf Island in nearby Dunfermline

BSB series leader Tommy Hill along with Josh Brookes, Michael Laverty and Dan Linfoot got to grips with their clubs together with joint leaders of the Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport Championship James Westmoreland and Sam Lowes. Former BSB champion Niall Mackenzie and his racing sons from the SpeedyRetail.com British 125cc Championship, Taylor and Tarran, were also in attendance.

All riders arrive at Knockhill with the various championships at a crucial stage and the demanding 1.27 mile Fife track will see some dramatic action as the weekend unfolds. The action gets underway with free practice tomorrow at 10.00 and concludes with the first qualifying sessions for the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock 600cc and 1000cc competitors starting at 16.20.

Saturday’s action starts at 09.00 with the highlight being the Swan Combi Roll for Pole which sets the race one BSB grid at 15.30 and is followed by the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock 600 Shoot Out race at 17.15. On Sunday, there’s another full day of racing starting with the morning warm ups at 08.45 with the two main MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship races over 30 laps starting at 12.30 and 16.15 respectively.
