Knockhill Rally Stages this Sunday 9th January

Some of the best known names of the Scottish rallying scene have entered the inaugural Grant Construction Knockhill Rally Stages this Sunday 9th January.

Heading the famous names are the McRaes from Lanarkshire.  It’s not, however, the rallying family of Jimmy and Alistair McRae, but brother and sister combo of Kenneth and Janet McRae who also hale from Lanarkshire in their Peugeot 205.  Other prominent entries include Reay Mackay (Inverness) in his amazing MG Metro 6R4, winner of the Snowman Rally, and the Rintouls (John and Jim) from Crail in their Mitsubishi Evo 9.

Former Scottish Champion Michael Horne (Duns) and Robbie Mitchell have both entered in a classic Ford Escort MKII. Also joining the entry list are Dale Robertson and Paul McGuire, fresh from their victory in the Christmas Stages at Croft Racing Circuit in their Mitsubishi Evo.

Knockhill Event Director Stuart Gray said “With everything from Metro 6R4’s, Subaru’s, Mitsubishi’s and for the classic two wheel drive enthusiasts, Ford Escorts, an Open Ascona and Talbot Sunbeam. The quality and variety of entry is very impressive for our first rally in 5 years.  We are delighted that Border Ecosse Car Club have pulled together such an entry and we hope it will be the start of regular rally events at Knockhill”.

Rally action is on from 9am and features 8 stages covering over 30 competitive stage miles and utilises the race track, new rally stage and perimeter in a number of unique combinations.

Stuart Gray added “Rallying at Knockhill is like no other venue.  With 30 second intervals between cars starting, we will have as many as 6 or 7 cars on the stage at any given time, so where ever you look, you will see action”.

Adult admission is £8 (£5 in advance), concessions £4 (£3 in advance) and all under 12’s are free of charge.  Action is expected to go on until around 4pm.
