Knockhill Position Regarding 3rd April Bike Meeting

It is with regret that the failure of KDMC to sign a 2011 Circuit Hire Agreement Form has resulted them walking away from the proposed event on April 3rd. As with all other Clubs and other third parties that are hiring us on a one-off basis, a standard Agreement Form is requested to be signed with very fair Terms and Conditions for both sides. The KDMC had the verbal intent to hire, and had written to that effect, but by not signing, could have walked away at any stage prior to the event, without any financial penalty, leaving us high and dry with an empty weekend during our prime time. If they were 100% confident that the event would have happened, then they should have been 100% confident at signing the Agreement. By walking away from the Agreement, they walked away from any responsibilities to the hire of the venue, walked away from the riders and our spectators.

We did not take this decision lightly. It is a shame after 37 years that this situation has arisen, especially as it was avoidable. We wish all riders every success at the first meeting at East Fortune and look forward to welcoming them on April 24th for the inaugural, televised Knockhill Motor Sports Club event.
