Tasker takes lap record and opening Superbike win

Andrew Tasker stormed his way to a new Knockhill Reverse Circuit lap record and the first ever Knockhill Motor Sports Club reverse Superbike race. Tasker had started the race in second position just behind Donald MacFadyen, but both riders were pushed down the order by Torquil Paterson and Roy Houston on the opening laps. Clubman rider Jim Laing high-sided his bike at Scotsman corner causing the race to be red flagged.

After the restart there were some brilliant tussles on track as the leading 5 riders swapped positions. But ultimately it was Tasker who would come out triumphant after posting a succession of super quick laps and making an almighty brave move on Paterson, and a back-marker to take the lead.

“Fair play to him, he had the b**ls to make the move and l didn’t,” said Paterson.

Despite struggling with a wrist injury Bruce Birnie managed to battle his way through to third position. Birnie will need to dig deep in the remaining race today if he is to hold onto his KMSC Superbike Championship crown, from the hard charging Andrew Tasker. Birnie takes a slender advantage into the final race of the KMSC season later today and it looks like it will go down to the wire with potentially single figures separating the duo at the end of the day.

Bryan Duncanson showed just why he has wrapped up the Scottish and Knockhill Club Superstock 600 Championships by taking another brace of wins today. Follow the link for all the results from today.
