Highlighting MASCARS at Knockhill

This Sunday will see a five formula Stock Car racing event take place on the Knockhill Tri-Oval Circuit. The Knockhill event, represents the tail end of a double header taking place in Fife over the weekend of 7th/8th September. All formulas will be racing at the Cowdenbeath Racewaill on the Saturday night, before making the short journey to Knockhill for a 1pm starting time on Sunday afternoon.

This weekend’s event sees the MASCAR series make a welcome return to the Knockhill tarmac following its previous visit in 2011. All the MASCAR drivers are based South of the Border and this weekend may represent a first visit to Scotland for some of them. In all, fourteen racers will compete (anti-clockwise) around the Knockhill Tri-Oval in their MASCAR racers.

MASCARS are exact 2/3 scale Winston Cup cars from the USA ; with 1250cc Yamaha engines, accompanied by extremely lightweight fibreglass bodies. The body shapes come in a number of layouts including Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Ford Taurus, Ford Thunderbird and Dodge Charger. Despite some dubious weather last time out, the MASCAR racers still managed to put on an excellent show, and this weekend will be no different.

The MASCAR drivers will be competing in the International Championship races with current Championship leader, Aaron Cooke (#96) looking to continue his winning form in Scotland. Elsewhere, Juli Stanford (#11) and Steve Tooley (#33) will be looking to capitalise on any mistakes made by Cooke, on a track that will certainly level the playing field for all concerned.

Other action will come from:

Saloon Stocks – Knockhill Track Championship Races

National Hot Rods – World Qualification Races

Lightning Rods – King of the Hill Trophy Races

Stock Rods – King of the Hill Trophy Races

Action will commence approximately at 1pm with the Knockhill gates opening from 12pm. Spectators can arrive early and wander around the paddock to get a close up look at all the stock cars before they head out on track for what will be, some thrilling entertainment.

Tickets for the event are available now with on-the-day pricing as follows:
