The Fueltopia Barrel Sprint comes back to Knockhill this Sunday (8th June). This unique form of motorsport blends drag racing, drifting and gymkhana style action into a one-on-one competition; and best of all, you can enter in your own car and participate to win trophies, prizes and cash!
The Barrel Sprint competition will take place during the Maxxis British Drift Championship event, which will see over 100 of Europe’s best drifters take to the Knockhill 1st corner complex in pursuit of BDC glory. You can read more about the BDC event here in our preview blog.
What is the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint?
Barrel Sprint takes place on a 100m long track, with three barrels placed at approximately 30m apart. The aim, to navigate each barrel (full 360 degrees), taking each one in the opposite direction, before racing over the finish line as fast as you can. The winner is the driver that navigates the circuit in the fastest possible time with the least amount of penalties. Penalties are given for hitting the barrel (3 secs) and leaving your lane (disqualification).
What do l need to compete?
To enter, you first must purchase a DBC event ticket (from £13) and then there is a subsequent £35 fee (payable on the day) to enter the Barrel Sprint competition. You will also require a valid European Driver’s Licence (bring this with you) and a crash helmet. Other than that, all makes and models of cars are welcome.
What’s the format of the competition?
Registration for Barrel Sprint will take place in the Clubhouse from 9am, with action set to get underway at 10am with a series of qualification sessions. Qualification rounds continue to 3pm, before the knockout competition starts at 3.30pm, all the way through to the podium presentation at 5.30pm (alongside the BDC podium).
What can l win?
There are a number of prize bundles up for grabs for the top three competitors. Prizes include custom-made trophies, sponsor goodies and the overall winner takes £100 cash for the win. Further info on the prize bundles can be found on our events webpage.
