Today, Knockhill hosted its 8th Hot Hatch Trackday of the 2014 season, and whilst the likes of Colin Turkington, Jason Plato and Gordon Shedden fought it out for the 2014 BTCC title, we welcomed in excess of 150 trackday drivers to Knockhill, for their very own slice of motorsport fun.
Six groups of 20+ drivers enjoyed alternating 10 minutes sessions throughout the day, with drivers enjoying upwards to 50 laps of the famous twists and dips of the British Championship track; in a broad array of vehicles including models from Renault, Ford, Subaru, Lotus, Mercedes, Toyota and Porsche, plus a host of others.
Our Hot Hatch days provide a safe and controlled environment where you can test the ultimate capabilities of your own car. All drivers undergo a full safety briefing before venturing on track. It’s a great way to enjoy the thrill of motoring, away from the public highway.
And today, we also welcomed the new Road Safety Scotland ‘Don’t Risk It’ campaign to the Circuit, to drive awareness for safer driving on country roads. Amazingly, 73% of road fatalities occur on country roads, much like the roads that surround Knockhill Racing Circuit. Therefore, we’d urge, everyone connected to the circuit to reduce their speeds coming to and from the venue, and to visit the Don’t Risk It website for more information, and to help drive awareness.
If you’d like to take the plunge and participate in a Knockhill Trackday, there are still several opportunities to get on track this year – newcomers are always welcome. We have two Hot Hatch dates remaining in 2014 – Sunday 9th November and Sunday 7th December; as well as other car trackday dates, see the trackdays website for the full schedule.
Knockhill also provide a number of courses for newcomers, potentially, looking to participate on track, or indeed race. Our Performance Driving Course is an excellent place to start, 25 laps sat beside an ARDS Qualified Instructor in your own car will provide the perfect foundation for hitting the track with confidence.
