This weekend’s McRae Rally Challenge event sponsored by Beatson’s Building Supplies is approaching fast and everyone at Knockhill is eagerly anticipating a bumper weekend of action for motorsport fans.
With so much going on, we thought we’d take some time to highlight a few things that fans can look forward to at the event:
10 stage rally in association with Coltness Car Club – 22 former World, British or Scottish Champions, from various forms of motorsport, will line up for the inagural McRae Rally Challenge this weekend; with 10 stages over two days – this will be Knockhill’s biggest ever Rally event.
McRae Cars – A stunning collection of McRae’s former competition cars will be on show over the weekend, including the Subaru Impreza he drove to the World Rally Championship title in 1995; the R4 and Martini Focuses will also be present.

- Meeke in WRC action for Citroen Racing
WRC star Kris Meeke – Meeke was one of the very first competitors to sign up for the event. However, after winning his first WRC event in Argentina his profile has sky-rocketed. Meeke will drive a WRC Citroen Zsara in McRae colours and lead the field as number #1 seed.

Alister McRae – The event is fast becoming a real family affair for the McRaes. Jimmy has been pivotal in planning and organising the event, and will also undertake the ‘zero’ car duties in the McRae Sierra Cosworth; whilst Alister (Colin’s brother), will return from Australia to compete in a Proton Satria similar to the one he dove to the FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship title.
Group B Demos – We’ll have a brilliant collection of Group B machinery on show and paraded on track. But, topping the bill will be WRC Champions Stig Blomqvist and Hannu Mikkola in two incredible Audi Quattros on track.
Rally Forum– Fans attending the event on Saturday can also benefit from an exclusive Rally Forum which will be held in the Champions’ Clubhouse from 7pm – featuring Jimmy & Alister, Kris and other stars from the Rally.
Terry Grant – International Stunt Driver, Terry Grant will be at Knockhill this weekend to pay his own tribute to Colin. As well as stunning tricks in his Legend racer, Terry will also try to navigate the entire Knockhill track on 2-wheels in a car.
CHAS Fundraising – At the event we are also hoping to raise as much money as possible for CHAS – one of McRae’s own adopted charities. A number of sensational passenger rides will be raffled on the day.
McRae Merchandise -The McRae family will also be selling a number of Colin McRae Motorsport items from our Clubhouse shop. Items including T-shirts, Caps, Shoes, Books and Corgi models will all be available – a great momento of the event.
Show elements – As well as the competitive Rally, we’ll also have Ford and Subaru owners’ on track, on display, and a whole host of special Rally exhibits on show (Ari Vatanen cars and Series McRae Road cars to name a few).
