Vauxhall Live Show and Trackday 2017

Our second running Vauxhall Live Show and Trackday took place at Knockhill today (Sunday 25th June). Yesterday, Knockhill was reverberating to the sound of Porsches during our ‘Porsche at the Hill’ event and today it was the turn of the Vauxhall brand to take centre-stage.

Club cars from up and down the country converged on Knockhill to participate in a spot of Show ‘n’ Shine competition, as well as 14 Vauxhall enthusiasts taking to the take during the lunch break for a bit of a drag racing face-off. We even had Colin McRae’s Vauxhall Nova on site to add a bit of Vauxhall nostalgia to the event. Coming out on top in the drag was actually Super Lap Scotland competitor Craig McCready in his Vauxhall VX220 – presumably just knocking in a few laps of the Knockhill track in preparation for the SLS double-header in a couple of weeks time – 8/9 July for rounds 3 and 4 + Subaru Vs Evo show.

In paddock two, the latest round of the SGK Championship was in full swing with both rear and all-wheel drive cars competing head-to-head for valuable championship points. SGK is an open championship and if you fancy pitting your gymkhana skills against some of the UK’s top names then check out the SKG Championship Facebook page for the latest entry details. Remember, you simply arrive on the day, register to compete and if you make it through the qualifying process you could be on your way to SGK Championship glory.

A main part of the focus at these types of events is obviously the Hot Hatch tracktime – that allows you to get on the Knockhill track (any make of vehicle) to drive the unique twists and dips of the British Championship track. Newcomers are always welcome and it’s a great environment for those wishing to test the full capabilities of their cars, away from the public highways. It’s also a great place to meet up with like-minded car enthusiasts to sample motorsport at its best.

If you like what you see, make sure you check out the Knockhill website for similar upcoming events in 2017. We’d love to see you here as a spectator on track sampling the unique challenges of our track.

Until next time…
