Andrew Jordan talks BTCC qualifying with DuncV

Andrew Jordan and his BMW Pirtek Racing team head to Knockhill with a whopping 59 –point deficit to make up in the 2018 Championship battle. Jordan, hasn’t quite hit the heights in the BTCC since winning the Championship crown back in 2013, and this year, his second successive year with the BMW team hasn’t quite taken off yet. A season’s-best 4th place finish at Snetterton (Round 18) is a far cry from that Championship winning season that saw him win six BTCC Races as well as numerous 2nd and 3rd place finishes.

However, a famous BTCC 60th Anniversary shootout-win at Goodwood Festival of Speed will be of some consolation to Jordan in a season that promised so much at the start of the year.

Jordan is also one of the most spectacular drivers at Knockhill on event weekend and admits that perhaps on occasion he can be guilty of taking a bit to much kerb through the Chicane at Knockhill.

“I always get told off for taking to much kerb through the Chicane. It’s not necessarily the quickest way through the Chicane depending on the car your car driving,” said Jordan.

“To me, Knockhill Qualifying is probably my favourite session of the year. Because you get so many laps out of the tyre around there, it’s flat out for a fair old chunk of the session.

“And timing is everything around there. If you catch a bit of traffic at the wrong time that can really effect your session, which in turn can hurt your raceday. So, yes, it’s a busy old lap to drive and to think about,” concludes Jordan.
