Knockhill celebrates 60 years of the BTCC this weekend

The 60th year of the British Touring Car Championship has been celebrated in style this year, most noteably at the recent Snetterton event with a 60 mile race and Knockhill will be playing its part in celebrating this diamond jubilee with a special marquee of race cars and parades.

Stuart Gray, Knockhill’s Director of Events said “We are delighted to be recognising the landmark year of the BTCC by hosting one race car to signify each of the decades of the BTCC. We have assembled a representative display of a car from the 50’s, 60’s 70′ 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and 10’s to mark the 60 years. Seven cars, with varying history, but all signifying the types of cars that raced in each decade will be at Knockhill. Undoubted star of the line up, which will include a racing Austin A30, Lotus Cortina, Mustang, Rover Vitesse (pictured below), a Vauxhall Cavalier and Ford Focus, is the ex David Leslie and Laurent Aiello Nissan Primera”.

There will be a special display marquee near the Knockhill Kart Track with the cars on track during the lunch break of Saturday and Sunday.
