Butcher keen to secure BTCC future at Brands

Heading into the final Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship round at Brand Hatch this weekend; Rory Butcher hopes to pilot his AMD with Autoaid/RCIB Insurance Racing MG to yet more points-scoring finishes around the Brand’s Hatch GP loop in front of a bumper crowd.

With all his focus looking towards capping his first full-season in the BTCC with another strong showing this weekend, the Knockhill based driver is also thinking ahead to 2019. With a few irons in the fire for 2019, and potentially more on the way after a successful season that has saw Butcher amass 99-points so far, for a 16th place berth on the official BTCC standings; the AMD Tuning racer is keen to secure his future in the BTCC as soon as possible to avoid the dreaded winter of uncertainty.

One area that Butcher is keen to improve upon this weekend is his qualifying performance. With recent setup gains with his MG he’s looking forward to leaning on the car through the faster sections of the Brands Hatch track.

“Oh man, it’s a track I love. It’s great anytime you get let loose on the GP loop, and I just love the high speed nature of some of the sections out the back.

“I think we have moved the car forward in the last couple of rounds and with a dry weekend forecast this is the weekend we really need to show what we can do in those conditions. In the past, the rain has helped us out somewhat, but we need to showcase the progress we’ve made with the car this weekend.”

With a September date for the Knockhill round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship in 2019 (14/15 September), we certainly hope Rory will be part of the series, if only to continue our #ButchesBlog feature next year. Incidentally, we’ll also be putting the 2019 BTCC tickets on sale after the final BTCC race this weekend on Sunday 30th September at 6pm.

So, if you want to get your 2019 BTCC tickets sorted early, just like Rory’s BTCC future, you know where to head after you’ve watched the culmination of the 2018 season live on ITV4 this weekend.
