It’s another raceday at Knockhill this Sunday (16th September) as we welcome the Scottish Motor Racing Club to Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre for the penultimate race meeting of the year.
Championships are entering a critical phase as those title contenders aim to secure yet more wins that will keep them marching towards Championship glory for 2018. Aside from the regular six classes that appear at all SMRC events, this event will also see a selection of Formula Junior race cars make an impromptu visit to Knockhill.
Formula Junior racing has taken place all around the world since it’s first inception in 1958. These classic open-wheeled 1000cc single seat racers will add some nostalgia to a jam-packed weekend of racing at Knockhill this weekend. Additionally, there will be a grid walk for the Formula Junior cars which will be free to attend for all spectators on the day (during the lunch break).
In between the two Formula Junior races we’ll see a full supporting programme from the likes of the Celtic Speed Mini Cooper Cup, Formula Ford, Classic Sports & Saloons, Legends, Saloons & Sports Cars plus the SMTA Fiesta & Hot Hatch / BMW Championship in association with Aford Awards.
The 16-race programme commences at approximately 10.40am and should conclude around 17.50pm. It’s an action-packed day with qualifying action for most of the classes taking place from 8.35am.
So, if you are looking for something to do this Sunday (16th Sept), head on over to Knockhill and enjoy 8hrs worth of thrilling car racing action on the Reverse Circuit at Knockhill. This weekend will be the third time the SMRC racers have sampled Knockhill’s reverse layout and with limited experience on track this weekend’s results could throw up some interesting permutations that may well blow some of the Championships wide-open heading into the final round of the year in October.
