Butcher continues to set the pace in FP2

Another 40-minutes has come and gone of the 2019 Knockhill round of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship sponsored by Lokring Northern (UK) in association with Liqui Moly and it’s home hero Rory Butcher who continues to set the pace.

Rory followed up his earlier pace-setting performance by producing an even faster time in the second free practice session of the weekend. The Cobra Sport AmD AutoAid/RCIB Insurance racing driver circulated the track in a best time of 50.615secs to pip Halfords Yuasa Racing’s Dan Cammish to top spot by just 0.254 secs.

Stephen Jelly, in his Team Parker Racing BMW 125i M-Sport continued his fine form from the opening session to round out FP2 in third, just ahead of Jason Plato in his Vauxhall Astra. Aiden Moffat, showed that his opening session was no fluke by finishing P5 in FP2 with another cracking time of 50.976 seconds – faster than the time he set in FP1

Indeed, that was the fastest ever session around Knockhill for the BTCC with the top 22 drivers covered by less than a second. With a little more to find for all the leading teams heading into qualifying, it’s going to be one hell of a session coming up at 3pm.

If you are not at the track, tune into ITV.com and watch the qualifying session live – it’s going to be intense. And, if you like what you see on TV, then log straight onto the Knockhill.com website and book your tickets for the Lokring Northern (UK) raceday on Sunday 15th September.

We’ve got three pulsating BTCC races, ably backed up by some equally intense support racing in the shape of the Ginetta Junior, Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, Renualt UK Clio Cup and British F4 Championships.
