Sutton wants rain…

He’s probably the only person on the planet right now that wants rain over the weekend of 14/15 September in Scotland. But, if it does rain for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship  – Lokring Northern UK sponsored event at Knockhill in association with Liqui Moly, then Ash Sutton will be a happy man.

A storming drive from the rear of the grid in 2018, in torrential rain following a penalty at the end of race two, saw the Subaru Levorg driver make up an incredible 22 places to round out the final race of the 2018 event in 8th place, giving further vindication to his rain-specialist tag.

Sutton is fast in the wet, and with the Adrian Flux Subaru Racing car lacking a bit of straight –line speed at the moment, Sutton is hoping the stars, or more importantly, the clouds will align and give him a fighting chance at Knockhill for more BTCC silverware.

Sutton currently lies sixth in the 2019 BTCC standings and despite a strong start to the season, where he scored podiums in the opening three rounds, he’s struggled to put the Subaru into podium contention since the final race of the day at Thruxton Circuit back in May.

However, with Knockhill’s tight and twisty nature, Sutton feels that a trip to Scotland might just be the shot in the arm he needs to rekindle his season. Interestingly enough, Sutton has also just tested the Laser Tools Racing Infiniti and speculation will surely mount about his BTCC future come the end of the season.

First up though, it’s a trip to Scotland and a date at Knockhill which will see the BTCC racers compete three times on track on Sunday 15th September. Tickets for the event can be booked online, and like Sutton says:

He’ll be out to make it entertaining.
