Butcher excited to be coming home!

Straight off the back of a strong performance at Oulton Park, Rory Butcher was back to the grind ahead of his home round – set to take place over the weekend of 14/15 August 2021 at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

A win, a P4 finish and a strong haul of points (33 in total) has Rory heading into race-week very excited. The Toyota Gazoo Racing UK squad tested at Knockhill earlier in the season, and although admittedly Butcher wasn’t quite at-one with the Toyota at that point in the season, further development in race and tyre test situations have helped the team adapt the car to suit Butcher’s driving style.

That bodes well for Butcher, heading in to a round where he has been very strong in recent years. Indeed, Butcher currently holds the qualifying lap record time in set driving the AMD Tuning squad FK2 Honda a few years back. A win last year in the Motorbase Ford further cements Butcher’s claim on being one of the favourites this weekend coming.

That said however, the FK8 Hondas of Gordon Shedden and Dan Rowbottom have also tested Knockhill this season, along with the Car Gods BMWs of Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton, along with a few others. Rear wheel drive cars at Knockhill have tended to have a slight advantage in previous years, with Ash Sutton and Colin Turkington taking the win and 2nd place podiums in both of the opening races of 2020 – before Butcher streaked home 6secs ahead of the field in Race 3.

It’s great that we’ll also see the fans return for this coming weekend’s event – additionally, the paddocks will be open as well and hopefully the fans will be able to toast some Scottish success when the race winners of each of the three BTCC races take to the podium throughout Sunday.

Tickets for the event can be per-booked online via the Knockhill website. There’s options for Saturday, Sunday, Weekend and Camping if you’d like to make a weekend of it with all tickets emailed instantly to your inbox for scanning at the gate.

We hope to see as many of you as possible here for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship event – Lokring UK sponsored raceday in association with Cataclean and supported by EventScotland.
