Marino Franchitti continued to establish himself in the world’s toughest sportscar championship when he scored another podium finish in the American Le Mans Series at Road America.The 29-year-old from Bathgate, partnered by American Butch Leitzinger in their Porsche RS Spyder, finished fifth overall — just 15.095secs behind the winning Audi R10TDI of championship leaders Marco Werner and Lucas — and third in the LMP2 class.“That was a hell of a race,” Franchitti, who from the back of the grid but finished just 0.759secs ahead of the fourth-placed Porsche of Saascha Maassen. “We really had to battle every inch of the way.
