Forgan shows intent with switch to Fiesta Rally 2 for McRae Rally Challenge

At the Snowman Rally back in March of 2022 Ian Forgan & Chris Lees suffered a huge accident leaving Chris with cracked ribs and Ian with broken legs. Thankfully Chris made a very speedy recovery and was out competing at the next round of the SRC and has gone on to have a very successful season in the navigators seat.

Ian’s recovery has taken slightly longer, but no-less remarkable… from a wheelchair, to walking, to being back in a rally car in under 4 months is an amazing achievement in anyone’s book.

Originally entered in Ian’s venerable Ford Ka for this weekend’s McRae Rally Challenge they are now out in David Henderson’s new Fiesta Rally 2. The car fresh, from 2nd overall on the Argyll Rally last weekend in the hands of David & Chris, is one of the top spec rally cars in the UK and is very capable of the rally win. Ian & David are good friends and Ian has already driven the car at a recent test and was almost immediately on David’s pace, underlining just how impressive his recovery has been.

Regardless of the final result at the weekend, the fact that Ian is back out in a Rally car is just fabulous news all round. Good luck to the both of them when the McRae Rally Challenge action kicks off on Saturday morning.

Tickets for the 2nd running of the McRae Rally Challenge are still available online via the Knockhill website, tickets will also be available on the gate throughout the weekend for anyone who fancies turning up on the day.
